The Coastal Communities Social Procurement Initiative (CCSPI) is a unique regional incubation initiative of social procurement amongst communities on Vancouver Island and the Coast. The region is unique, and represents communities of varying sizes, each with different needs and challenges. On Vancouver Island, local governments and other large purchasers spend billions of dollars each year on goods, services and infrastructure projects. Through the practice of social procurement, this purchasing power can assist local economic recovery by opening doors to increased local employment, training and apprenticeships, support for local businesses and multiple additional community benefits.
