Ending Period Poverty

By Scott Ellis Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
No Poverty Gender Equality

Ending Period Poverty is an event that provides awareness and resources for those who are worried about their ongoing affordability to afford period products. 1 out of 3 women are worried about their ongoing ability to afford period products – an issue known as period poverty. Now more than ever, women and menstruating people are under a lot of economic stress. Some can’t even afford basic necessities such as menstrual products. Scott Ellis and his team have been raising awareness of “period poverty” in Nova Scotia. Thanks to a grant from the federal government, Scott was able to organize the first-ever Period Poverty Summit in August to rally, collaborate, and support women.
