The Leftovers Foundation

Zero Hunger Responsible Consumption and Production

The Leftovers Foundation is one of Western Canada’s largest food rescue charities with a mission of both reducing food waste and distributing edible food to those who need it. 8 percent of the food produced in Canada is lost and wasted annually. 32 percent – equaling 11.2 million metric tonnes – is avoidable and potentially edible food that could be redirected to support people in our communities. With the Leftovers Foundation, volunteers collect food that is just about to expire from grocery stores, bakeries, and restaurants, and bring it to social service agencies in Edmonton and Calgary.
