The Station Food Hub

The Station Food Hub is a local food manufacturing hub and a social enterprise that exists entirely to support the local food movement in Nova Scotia. In an old refurbished elementary school building in rural Nova Scotia, this project provides infrastructure, and start-up and scale support for small, local farmers and food retailers that allows them to expand their businesses and to thrive. The intention of the hub is to supply Nova Scotian’s with local food year-round and to connect local farms to public institutions while supporting local producers and retailers of local food. The Hub also facilitates consultants offering business advice to small local food businesses and a boardroom meeting space for any group to use. They also reduce food waste by making value-added food from less aesthetically pleasing products and use water sourced entirely from the rain on the roof.
